Vintage Sterling Silver Sodalite Sculptural Collar Necklace

This vintage sterling silver collar necklace is set with natural, deep blue sodalite in a graduated suspended arrangement. Its open construction frames the neckline, while the cascading geometric stones give the form a sculptural presence. Lightweight in character, it is designed to sit cleanly at the neckline.

Handmade using silverwork, the necklace was created during an early formative period influenced by the silversmithing traditions of Taxco, Mexico. Its modernist artisan collar design brings together craftsmanship, wearable design and sculptural form. The collar width is 11cm.

The piece forms part of The Curator’s Cabinet within The JewelAri Compendium, a group of objects connected to artistic development, travel, craftsmanship and creative momentum. It belongs to one of the earliest highly successful jewellery ranges developed during this formative period. After being brought back to London, the collection gained attention among independent fashion retailers on the Chelsea Road boutiques of the period.

The necklace reflects a point at which handmade silver jewellery moved from workshop experimentation into fashion and collectors’ circles. It is described as a fragment of a 50-year legacy in silver and remains in excellent vintage condition.
