This vintage handmade sterling silver collar necklace is set with natural deep blue sodalite. Its open sculptural collar supports a graduated arrangement of suspended geometric stones, hand polished into the silver, creating a form intended to sit cleanly at the neckline.
The necklace was created during an early formative period influenced by the silversmithing traditions of Taxco, Mexico. It reflects the meeting of artisan craftsmanship, modernist form and wearable design, with a lightweight construction and a distinct visual presence.
Part of The Curator’s Cabinet within The JewelAri Compendium, the piece belongs to an early, successful range of silverwork inspired by Taxco craftsmanship traditions. After being brought back to London, these sculptural handmade forms gained attention among independent fashion retailers along the Chelsea Road boutiques of the period.
The collar measures 11cm in width. It is in excellent vintage condition.
