About This Piece
This purse pendant is modelled in a Victorian style, taking the form of a miniature handbag with decorative surface detail. The body is enhanced with coloured enamel and accented with marcasite, creating contrast and subtle texture across the sculpted design. The hinged construction allows the purse to open, adding an element of movement and charm.
Suspended from a curb chain, the pendant is proportioned for balanced wear. The handbag motif reflects the tradition of novelty jewellery, where familiar objects were reinterpreted as finely crafted adornments with both character and refinement.
Craftsmanship
Handcrafted in sterling silver, the purse is carefully assembled with a secure working hinge. The enamel is applied to achieve an even and durable finish, while each marcasite is individually set to enhance light and surface detail.
