This hallmarked sterling silver shell brooch is part of the Studio Variations collection. Its sculptural shell design is finished in black rhodium, with polished silver ribbons sweeping across the surface to create contrast and movement.

Green cubic zirconia has been individually hand-set along the shell’s curves, forming a pavé-set field beneath the silver detailing. The black rhodium finish provides depth and definition around the stones, while the high-polish silver surfaces retain a clear, reflective finish.

The brooch was developed as part of a sterling silver series commissioned after earlier sea-life costume jewellery collections. The series used precious materials, black rhodium and hand-set cubic zirconia, but exceeded the client’s target retail price. Rather than alter the design or reduce the stone setting, the finished pieces were retained within the studio archive.

This example has a secure brooch pin fastening and is described as being in excellent archive condition. It is presented as contemporary ocean-inspired jewellery, with a shell motif shaped through flowing, sculptural lines.
