Sterling Silver Shell Brooch with Pink Cubic Zirconia

A hallmarked sterling silver shell brooch from Studio Variations, finished with black rhodium plating and individually hand-set pink cubic zirconia. The sculptural design follows the flowing form of a shell, with sweeping silver ribbons curving around its centre. A high-polish finish brings definition to the silver, while the pink stones provide contrast against the darker rhodium surface.

The brooch belongs to a series developed following the commercial success of earlier sea-life costume jewellery collections. This new collection was made in sterling silver and used hundreds of individually hand-set cubic zirconia. Its designs exceeded the original client’s target retail price. Rather than reduce the stone setting, simplify the castings or alter the designs, the finished pieces were retained in the studio archive. Only a handful were produced.

Studio Variations presents these completed designs as they were made. This brooch is a finished work rather than a prototype, described as contemporary, ocean-inspired jewellery. It remains in excellent archive condition.
