This vintage Taxco sterling silver apple pendant is an opening keepsake container, suspended on an included 24-inch sterling silver chain. Made in Taxco, Mexico, it is the larger version of the archive apple pendant and is described as vintage Taxco silverwork in excellent vintage condition. Created during the golden period of Taxco silver craftsmanship, it has a softly brushed silver finish and a rounded apple silhouette.
The pendant opens to reveal a concealed compartment for a written note, perfume, ash or memorial fragments, tiny keepsakes, personal tokens, or hidden memories. The Taxco silverwork is noted for sculptural simplicity, hand-finished surfaces, confident form and tactile craftsmanship. It was made individually rather than through modern mass production, leaving variation, touch and human finishing visible.
Part of The Curator’s Cabinet, the pendant brings together wearable jewellery and a private container carried close to the body. The apple is associated in mythology, art and storytelling with love, memory, temptation, hidden knowledge, beginnings and transformation. It is suited to sentimental gifting, collectors of Taxco silver, keepsake and memory objects, lovers of symbolic jewellery, personal talismans and unusual silver design.
