This vintage Taxco sterling silver apple pendant is an opening keepsake container, suspended on an included 24-inch sterling silver chain. Made in Taxco, Mexico, it is the larger version of the archive apple pendant and forms part of The Curator’s Cabinet.

Its rounded apple silhouette has a soft brushed silver finish. The pendant opens to reveal a concealed compartment for a written note, perfume, ash or memorial fragments, tiny keepsakes, personal tokens or hidden memories. The apple has appeared in mythology, art and storytelling in connection with love, memory, temptation, hidden knowledge, beginnings and transformation.

Described as vintage Taxco silverwork, the piece has a sculptural form and hand-finished surfaces. Its larger scale gives it a more substantial presence than the smaller version, while retaining its function as a private container worn close to the body. The pendant is in excellent vintage condition.
