This sterling silver lobster brooch forms part of Studio Variations, a collection of finished jewellery designs retained in the studio archive after proving too expensive for commercial production. Developed following earlier sea-life costume jewellery collections, the series was made in sterling silver with black rhodium plating and hundreds of individually hand-set cubic zirconia.

The lobster design is finished with individually hand-set red cubic zirconia. Its segmented shell, sweeping antennae and distinctive claws are carefully modelled, with a high-polish finish and black rhodium contrast defining the sculpted marine form. The design is described as contemporary marine jewellery.

Only a handful were produced. This example is hallmarked sterling silver and in excellent archive condition. Studio Variations preserves the original designs without removing stones, simplifying the forms or redesigning them to meet a price point. The brooch is suited to lovers of marine life jewellery, coastal jewellery collectors, contemporary silver jewellery enthusiasts and ocean lovers.
