This sterling silver lobster brooch is part of the Studio Variations collection. Hallmarked sterling silver is finished with black rhodium plating and a high polish, while red cubic zirconia is individually hand-set across the design.

The lobster form is carefully modelled through its segmented shell, antennae, claws and tail. Hundreds of stones follow these contours, creating texture and contrast against the dark finish. The piece is described as contemporary marine jewellery and presents a sculptural interpretation of a familiar sea creature.

Studio Variations brings together finished jewellery designs retained in the studio archive after they proved too expensive for commercial production. This series followed earlier sea-life costume jewellery collections and was developed in sterling silver with black rhodium plating and individually hand-set cubic zirconia. Only a handful were produced.
