This sterling silver pill box is finished with a hand-painted enamel scene of a robin perched on a snowy branch. Hinged and compact in form, it may be used for small keepsakes, placed on display, or reserved for occasional use.

The winter subject is rendered in delicate detail and luminous colour. The enamel is hand-painted rather than printed by an independent enamel artist, using traditional techniques: hand-applied powdered glass pigments and multiple kiln firings build depth and colour. As with historic enamel miniatures, subtle variation distinguishes each example.

Made in the 1990s and described as being in excellent condition, this pill box is a limited studio variation.
