This sculptural candle holder is made from Taxco Sterling Silver 925. Its organic, hand-shaped form sits between a functional object and a design study, serving either as a candle holder or as a sculptural display object with a strong material presence.
Inspired by the silversmithing traditions of Taxco, Mexico, it was originally created during a formative period of working alongside master silversmiths in Taxco. Traditional techniques informed an evolving design language. Rather than replicating traditional Taxco forms, the piece reflects an English designer’s interpretation of Mexican silversmithing ethos in a personal language.
Drawn from The JewelAri Compendium, it forms part of The Curator’s Cabinet, a group of objects from the earliest periods of making and collecting, where influence and material converge. It is described as an early archive piece and a point of origin within a 50-year legacy in silver. Signs of age, travel and handling are present, consistent with its history. The holder is suited to interior styling, display and curated personal collections, and to those drawn to design history or early-stage creative work.
