Vintage Sterling Silver Opal Mosaic Bird Pendant Necklace

This vintage sterling silver bird pendant necklace dates from the early 1970s and forms part of The Curator’s Cabinet collection. Its round pendant holds an opal mosaic inlay against a black background, depicting two birds among flowers, leaves and foliage.

Small sections of opal bring shifting turquoise, blue, green and violet tones to the scene as the pendant moves. A simple circular sterling silver frame, finished in high polish, surrounds the miniature mosaic and allows the image to remain central.

The pendant was an early archive acquisition from the 1970s sample years and is supplied ready to wear on an 18″ sterling silver curb chain. It is in excellent vintage condition.

A considered piece of bird and nature jewellery, it preserves an early chapter in JewelAri’s relationship with opal: two birds held within a small landscape of colour.
