Vintage Sterling Silver Opal Mosaic Unicorn Necklace

This vintage sterling silver unicorn pendant necklace dates from the early 1970s. Its oval pendant holds a genuine opal mosaic inlay in a rearing unicorn motif, set within a simple high-polish sterling silver frame.

The mosaic is described as Pietra Dura style, with individually assembled fragments of opal producing shifting blue, green, turquoise and violet flashes as the pendant moves. The pendant was an early archive acquisition from the 1970s sample years and forms part of The Curator’s Cabinet collection.

Each pendant is supplied on an 18″ sterling silver curb chain. This example is in excellent vintage condition.
