This hinged circular sterling silver pill box was made in England circa the 1990s as part of Ari D. Norman’s hand-painted enamel giftware. Its lid carries an individually hand-painted golfing landscape: a golfer preparing an approach shot beside water, set among rolling fairways, mature trees and blue sky.
The enamel scene was painted by hand by skilled enamelling artists rather than printed or transferred. Fine brushwork and rich enamel colours give the small composition depth, while natural variations between individually painted examples lend each one its own character. The sterling silver body provides a restrained frame for the painted lid, with a highly polished silver interior.
The box is hallmarked sterling silver and bears English hallmarks. It is in excellent archive condition.
Part of the Studio Variations collection within the JewelAri Archive, this piece preserves a distinctive Ari D. Norman design from a period in which the studio produced sterling silver giftware with hand-painted scenes inspired by British country life, sporting traditions, wildlife and classic pastimes. Originally intended for pills or personal keepsakes, it may also hold rings, earrings, small mementoes or other treasured objects. It offers a considered choice for golfers, collectors of golfing memorabilia, sterling silver or hand-painted enamel, and those drawn to British sporting heritage.
