This sterling silver ruler pencil case prototype brings measurement and storage together in a single sculptural desk object. Developed during a three-piece men’s accessories project, it was created as part of a private commission for a major international fashion house.

The ruler and pencil case hybrid marks a stage of exploration in which utility, proportion and form were tested before final production decisions. It has dual measurements in centimetres and inches, with a lidded construction and integrated compartments for storage. The object is intended as both a usable tool and a conceptual design piece.

Made from hallmarked British sterling silver with fitted rubber, it contains 117 grams of sterling silver. Its condition is described as excellent, and its era as the 2000s–2010s.

Drawn from The JewelAri Compendium, the piece forms part of The Prototyparium, a group of early and experimental works where ideas first took shape in material. Produced during development rather than for general release, only a small number were made. It may be considered for desk display, light use, or by those interested in design process objects and industrial or functional design.
