Autumn Dancer is a bronze, hand-chased and cold-painted statuette from the Baranite Cameo Collection of Art Decoratif Sculptures. Mounted on a polished display plinth, the figure stands approximately 18 cm (7 inches) tall. Its elongated limbs, flowing drapery and mid-performance pose reflect the glamour and theatricality associated with Art Deco decorative sculpture.

Originally produced in England by Baranite Ltd. of Baldock, Hertfordshire, the Cameo Collection sought to make Art Deco sculpture accessible to a wider audience. Baranite literature describes small-scale sculptures inspired by artists exhibited at the Paris Salons, with each bronze individually hand chased and painted by British craftsmen using traditional skills. The collection was championed by Alan Johnson, whose vision was to preserve and share the elegance of early twentieth-century sculpture through reproductions. Contemporary articles from 1989 described Baranite as bringing decorative sculpture into homes and collectors’ cabinets across Britain.
