This sterling silver crab brooch is a sculptural marine jewellery design from the Studio Variations collection. Its claws, legs and shell segments are carefully modelled to create depth and detail, then finished with individually hand-set pink cubic zirconia following the contours of the form.

The brooch is hallmarked sterling silver with a black rhodium and high-polish finish. The deep gunmetal tone contrasts with the pink pavé-set stones while retaining the definition of the crab’s articulated legs and shell plates. A secure brooch pin fastening allows it to be worn on a jacket, scarf or knitwear.

The design belongs to a series developed in sterling silver after earlier sea-life costume jewellery collections. The collection was retained within the studio archive after exceeding its intended retail price rather than being simplified; only a handful were produced. Studio Variations brings together finished designs preserved in the archive exactly as originally created.
