This sterling silver starfish brooch is finished in black rhodium and set with individually hand-set pink cubic zirconia. Its five tapering arms extend from a richly textured centre, following the sculptural geometry of a starfish. A high-polish finish and the dark rhodium surface frame the pink stones, bringing definition to the form.
Hallmarked sterling silver, the brooch was developed as part of Studio Variations, a collection of finished jewellery designs retained in the studio archive after exceeding the client’s target retail price for commercial production. The design was preserved without simplifying its stone setting or construction.
The brooch has a secure pin fastening and is described as being in excellent archive condition. Its marine motif lends itself to a jacket, scarf or knitwear, and to collections centred on sea-life, coastal or contemporary jewellery.
