Sterling Silver Shell Brooch with Pink CZ and Black Rhodium

This hallmarked sterling silver shell brooch is part of Studio Variations, a collection of finished designs preserved from the studio archive. Developed after the commercial success of earlier sea-life costume jewellery collections, the series was made in sterling silver with black rhodium plating and individually hand-set cubic zirconia.

The sculptural shell design follows the flowing lines of a seashell, with sweeping silver ribbons creating movement around pink pavé-set cubic zirconia. Black rhodium adds depth and contrast to the vivid stones, while a high polish finish completes the surface.

The collection exceeded the original client’s target retail price. Rather than simplify the castings, reduce the stone setting or alter the designs, the pieces were retained as intended. Only a handful were produced.

This brooch is not a prototype, but a finished work from Studio Variations. It is described as being in excellent archive condition and presents a contemporary, ocean-inspired interpretation of the shell form.
